The Estonian National Defence College together with the Center for EU-Russia Studies (CEURUS), University of Tartu organizes an

International Symposium

CHINA, RUSSIA AND THE WEST: INTERESTS, IMAGES AND RELATEDNESS

on 6 June 2012, starting at 9.30 and edning at 13:00.  The symposium will be held at the Estonian National Defence College – Riia street 12, room 201 (Admiral Cowan Hall), Tartu, Estonia

The symposium contributes to an inter-disciplinary discussion on the subject of the multilateral relations between China, Russia and West, including the European Union and the United States, within a framework of security politics that influence the national interests of Estonia.

The speakers are:

CHRISTOPHER MARSH, professor of political science and church-state studies (Baylor University and School of Advanced Military Studies, U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, USA) will deliver a keynote speech on “US-China-Russia Relations: Realigning Triangular Relations.“

General ANTS LAANEOTS, former commander of the Estonian Defence Forces, and HANNES HANSO, researcher of the International Centre for Defence Studies will present papers which focus on Russia and China.

The symposium will conclude with a thematic discussion led by ALAR KILP, lecturer of comparative politics of Tartu University.
