Summer School on Civil Society in Cross-Border Conflicts

The Center for EU-Russia Studies, together with its partners in Estonia (UT Institute of Government and Politics and Peipsi Centre for Transboundary Cooperation) and Georgia (Tbilisi State University) will organise an international summer school with a focus on civil society organisations (CSOs) as facilitators of cross-border cooperation in Georgian conflict zones.

The summer school will take place in Tbilisi, 15-22 June 2013, bringing together 25 students from Estonia, Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan. The programme includes academic presentations as well as study visits to the offices of Georgian Minister for Reintegration, the EU Monitoring Mission (EUMM) and to the camp of Internally Displaced People. The aim of the school is to promote cross-border tolerance and understanding and to expand the political space for reconciliation and compromise in the Caucasus region while relying to the positive experiences from the rest of the world, including Estonia.

The summer school is supported by Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Development Cooperation Program.
