Graduate Studies (MA) scholarships for citizens of Belarus
University of Tartu Johan Skytte Institute of Political Studies along with the Centre for Eurasian and Russian Studies and the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is delighted to announce a call for scholarship applications for the Master of Arts programmes of International Relations and Regional Studies and Politics and Governance in the Digital Age. The Graduate Studies (MA) scholarships are for citizens of Belarus.

Objective
The aim of the scholarship is to provide Belarusians who wish to pursue a Master’s degree with a chance to do so in a well-respected European university during times of volatility and political uncertainty in Belarus. Upon successful completion of their studies they could look to raise civil society awareness back in Belarus via principles of democracy, good governance, and rule of law.
Financing
The scholarships are financed under the auspices of the 2020 – 2023 Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid to Eastern Partnership countries programme of the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In total two scholarships will be awarded. The scholarships include a tuition fee waiver and a monthly allowance to cover local living costs.
Eligibility criteria
In order to be eligible for the scholarship, the applicant must meet the following criteria:
- be a citizen of Belarus;
- either hold or be in the process of obtaining a bachelor’s degree at minimum (must be obtained by July);
- demonstrate proficiency in the English language – please see the requirements here.
Prospective candidates are expected to submit their applications via the online application tool. Submissions will be evaluated based on the letter of motivation (100%) for those who wish to enrol in the International Relations and Regional Studies programme, and on the letter of motivation (50%) plus the average grade of the previous study level (50%) for those who wish to do so in the Politics and Governance in the Digital Age programme.
