‘A History of the Baltic states’ by Andres Kasekamp now published in Russian
Supported by the Center of EU-Russia Studies, the monograph by CEURUS associated scholar Professor Andres Kasekamp has now been translated into Russian and published with Tartu University Press. The book, first published in 2010 in English, is the first concise history of the Baltic states written by a single author and has been previously translated into Finish, Latvian, Polish and Japanese. It takes an integrative and comparative approach to the history of all three Baltic states beginning with the arrival of the first inhabitants to the region, the conquest of Livonia in the Northern Crusades and Lithuania’s rise to become one of medieval Europe’s greatest states, to the incorporation of the region into the Russian Empire and the struggles for national independence during the 20th century.
