Public lecture on security institutions in the post-Soviet space

On Wednesday, 27 April, Kjell Engelbrekt, Professor of Political Science at Swedish Defence University, will give a public lecture entitled “Security Institutions and Practices in post-Soviet Space”. The lecture takes place at 12.15 at Lossi 36-304.

In his lecture, Prof Engelbrekt will discuss various international security institutions and their diplomatic practices with respect to the post-Soviet space. The lecture will be based on a book “High-Table Diplomacy: the Reshaping of International Security Institutions”, published by Prof Engelbrekt with Georgetown University Press (2016).

Prof Engelbrekt is Professor at the Department of Security, Strategy and Leadership at the Swedish Defence University, and a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of War Studies and a Nonresident Senior Fellow on Global Security at the Chicago Council on Global Affairs. In addition to his latest book, he has coedited volumes such as “The NATO Intervention in Libya: Lessons Learned from the Campaign” (London: Routledge, 2014); “Russia and Europe: Building Bridges, Digging Trenches” (London: Routledge, 2010). He has also published in a variety of academic journals, such as Ethnopolitics, Global Affairs, Global Governance, International Politics.

The lecture is part of the Jean Monnet module “The EU’s Engagement with Russia and post-Soviet Neighbours” (EURUPN). The lecture is organised in cooperation with the Centre for EU-Russia Studies (CEURUS) and the Johan Skytte Institute of Political Studies.
