Information and disinformation have always been part of conflicts. Russia’s aggressive policies against Ukraine have been accompanied by sophisticated propaganda campaigns using new opportunities provided by digital media. How can international broadcasters like Deutsche Welle react to this challenge? What does balanced reporting mean in a “post-factual” world? How to remain a trusted and trustworthy media without resorting to counter-propaganda?

Ingo Mannteufel is Head of the Department for Europe and Russia, and Editor-in-Chief of the Russian Service at Germany’s international broadcaster Deutsche Welle (DW). He is a journalist and German media expert specializing on Russia and Eastern Europe working for DW in different journalistic positions since 2000. He studied at the University College London, School of Slavonic and East European Studies, and at the University of Cologne.

The lecture takes place October 20 at 10.15 at the UT Social Sciences building, Lossi 36-214. The lecture is organised by the UT Centre for EU-Russia Studies (CEURUS).
