Dr. Maria Mälksoo
|Maria Mälksoo is a Senior Researcher and a MOBILITAS post-doctoral fellow at the Institute of Government and Politics, University of Tartu. She holds a Ph.D. in International Studies from the University of Cambridge (2008). Her main research interests are in the intersection of memory, security and identity politics, and critical IR theory. She is the author of The Politics of Becoming European: A Study of Polish and Baltic Post-Cold War Security Imaginaries (Routledge, 2010) and has published in the European Journal of International Relations, Security Dialogue, Cambridge Review of International Affairs, in several edited volumes and Estonian academic journals. She is a principal investigator at Tartu of a HERA-funded collaborative research project Memory at War: Cultural Dynamics in Poland, Russia and Ukraine. Her current research focuses on the competing securitization of the communist legacy in Poland, Ukraine, Russia, and the Baltic states.
