Dr. Ria Laenen

 

Ria Laenen is Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of International and European Policy, KU Leuven. Her main research interest is on political developments in Russia and the other CIS countries. Currently her research is concerned with how Russia positions itself as a Eurasian great power and on exploring the link between national identity and foreign policy in Russia. Another research area is the conflict in South Ossetia in depth. While in Tartu, she will give a public lecture on Eurasian Union and a guest lecture on Russian foreign policy. Also during her stay, she will research how the link between national identity and foreign policy is reflected in Russia’s policy towards Estonia.
