Dr. Iain Ferguson

Dr Iain Ferguson is research fellow and teaching associate at the School of International Relations at the University of Saint Andrews, Scotland and visiting scholar with the Centre for EU-Russia Studies (CEURUS). His main areas of research include governance beyond the nation-state, international political relationships and international political theory.

During his visit in Tartu, Iain will teach courses on the international relations of the EU and on research methods for social scientists. He will also work on completing three research papers on the character of the EU-Russia relationship. the first is a theoretical piece about the narratology (or story logic) of this tense and uncomfortable relationship. The other two are more empirical, exploring the character of its dark side; made visible in the ongoing crisis in Ukraine and the previous crisis in Georgia.
