Dr. Elena Kropatcheva
Elena Kropatcheva is researcher at the Institute for Peace Research and Security Policy at the University of Hamburg (IFSH), Germany. Her areas of expertise include Russian and Ukrainian foreign policies, European and Eurasian security, energy politics, and European Neighborhood Policy. Her PhD thesis, which was published in 2010 with NOMOS, dealt with the topic of Russia’s policy towards Ukraine against the backdrop of Russian-Western competition. While in Tartu, Elena will give a public lecture entitled “Geopolitical Energy Games between Russia, the EU and their Neighbours: the case study of Ukraine” as well as a guest lecture on “European Neighbourhood vs. Russia’s near abroad?” in the framework of the MA course “Contemporary Issues in the EU-Russian Relations.”
