CEURUS welcomes visiting scholar

The Centre for EU-Russia Studies welcomes Dr. Mikhail Suslov from Uppsala Centre for Russian and Eurasian Studies (UCRS) at Uppsala University, Sweden, as a guest researcher staying from mid-September to mid-October at Tartu University.
At Uppsala, Dr. Suslov’s main research areas are Russian intellectual history, (geo)political imagination, ideological genealogies and cultural history of the Russian Orthodox church. He holds a PhD in history from European University Institute (Florence), and is currently working towards a Dr.habil. degree at the Russian State University for the Humanities in Moscow. His most recent publications include ‘Holy Rus’: The Geopolitical Imagination in the Contemporary Russian Orthodox Church,’ Russian Politics and Law, 52, 3 (2014), and (in Russian) ‘Genealogy of the Idea of Monarchy in Post-Soviet Political Discourses of the Russian Orthodox Church,’ Gosudarstvo, religiia, tserkov’ v Rossii i za rubezhom, 32, 3 (2014) as well as ‘Crimea is Ours! Russian Popular Geopolitics in the New Media Age‘, published inĀ Eurasian Geography and Economics, 55, 6 (2014).
While staying with CEURUS, Dr. Suslov will work on finalizing an edited volume on ‘Post-Soviet Geopolitics and New Media’ and will closely cooperate with our researchers, in particular Prof. Andrey Makarychev.
